Eid literally means a "festival" Calls as "feast" in Arabic. There are two major eids in the Islamic calendar per year.

  Eid al-Fitr earlier in the year and Eid al-Adha later.

Eid al-Fitr is a three-day-long festival and is known as the "Lesser" or "Smaller Eid" when compared to Eid al-Adha, which is four-days-long and is known as the "Greater Eid."

Why is Eid celebrated twice a year?

 The two Eids recognize, celebrate and recall two distinct events that are significant to the story of Islam.

Eid al-Fitr means "the feast of breaking the fast."The fast, in this instance, is Ramadan, which recalls the revealing of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad and requires Muslims to fast from sunrise to sundown for a month.Eid-ul-Fitr is an Islamic festival on the first day of the Shawwal, which is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. It marks the end of the Ramadan Month, which is an important month of prayer for Muslims.
During Ramadan, people practicing must pray, fast and refrain from negative activity or thoughts. Eid-ul-Fitr is the day this fast ends and a three day celebration begins. It's Arabic for ‘the festival of the breaking of the fast’.

माह-ए-रमज़ान में रूह अफज़ा, फ्रूट चाट और खजूर की इफ़्तारी तो ईद के दिन मीठी सेवई-खीर की दावतों का लुत्फ़ अपने आप में खास है। ईद के दिन आप अपने अज़ीज दोस्तों और रिश्तेदारों से मिलेंगे। लेकिन आपके जो अज़ीज साथी आपसे दूर हैं उनके साथ आप कैसे ईद मनाएंगे? 

रमज़ान का पाक महीना खत्म हो चुका है। आज 16 जून को देशभर में बड़ी धूम-धाम से ईद मनाई जा रही है। रमजान के महीने के आखि‍री दिन जब आसमान में चांद नजर आता है, तो उसके दूसरे दिन ईद मनाई जाती है। मुस्लिम पूरे रमजान माह में रोजा रखते हैं। इस्लामिक कैलेंडर के मुताबिक रमजान का महीना 30 दिन का होता है इसलिए मुसलमान पूर 30 दिन रोजा रखते हैं।  माह-ए-रमज़ान और ईद-उल-फ़ितर की रौनक बाजारों में दिखने लगी है। 30 दिन के रोज़े रखने और इबादतों के सिलसिले के बाद त्योहार का मजा कई गुना बढ़ जाता है। माह-ए-रमज़ान में रूह अफज़ा, फ्रूट चाट और खजूर की इफ़्तारी तो ईद के दिन मीठी सेवई-खीर की दावतों का लुत्फ़ अपने आप में खास है। ईद के दिन आप अपने अज़ीज दोस्तों और रिश्तेदारों से मिलेंगे। उन के घर जाकर ईद की दावत का मजा लेंगे।

साल में एक बार आती है ईद, खुशियां हजार लाती है ईद मोमिन के लिए तोहफा है ईद, बच्चों के लिए ईदी है ईद
ईदगाह का अर्थ होता है खुशी की जगह या खुशी का वक्त। यह ऐसी जगह है जहां पर बंदा दो रकात नमाज पढ़ कर अल्लाह का शुक्र अदा करता है। मुसलमानों के दो सबसे बड़े त्योहारों ईद-उल-फितर और ईद-उल-अजहा की खुशी ईदगाह में ही मनाई जाती है।
